PSYCHOLOGICAL CONTRACT

The Psychological Contract is a diagnostic tool that measures the difference between employee expectations and reality delivered in the workplace. The greater the differential between expectations and reality, the greater the risk of separation. By identifying key issues that are affecting engagement, immediate positive and focused measures can be introduced to improve the workplace relationship and the committment of the employee.

Twenty-six (26) individual drivers measure whether the "deal" associated with the workplace relationship is being met. These include:

  • Individaul alignment
  • Career development
  • Culture alignment

In a process that triangulates the relationship between the employee, the consultant and the manager, the results of the psychological contract are discussed with each party to communicate its findings and agree an action plan for the future.

One of the key features of the psychological contract is that it in not anonymous. Individual consent is required to pass information to managers and HR, as the purpose is to provide a snapshot of each participant's engagement at that point in time.
